All about Barbados

In the wildparks Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Welchman Hall Gully you can watch wild monkeys within their natural surroundings.
The Wildlife Reserve expanded over the last years, there is a big aviary you can walk through, with parrots, flamingoes, pelicans etc.
Next to it is a reptile house with iguanas, turtles, snakes and many other local animals. If you go on around the path you can see sweet bajan deer and armadillos, many trees and plants and big types of cacti.

Quite new is the Ocean Park in Christ Church. It is a well designed walk around, through beautiful gardens with different areas, where you can watch tropical fish. there is a pond for huge rays, which hover past colorful fish, on every stop there is information to read or to hear.
A building with different fish tanks houses creatures out of the deep sea, but also crabs, you can look at close.
Great is the tunnel to walk through a huge fish tank, if you look up there are the rays and sharks swimming over you, you can see the corals and sea plants moving. For curious and smaller people there is a touch pool where you can touch seastars or the big shells.
At the end of the path there is a very large tank (about 380.000l) with glass walls, and inside are splashing sharks, barracudas, tarpons and others about. They have daily feeding frenzy times and a member of the staff gives a very interesting lecture.
Moreover there is a nice souvenir shop, a restaurant and a playground for the kids.

In Worthing, a protected bit of swamp opened for the public in 2004. Formerly it used to be a very big mangrove swamp. Paths lead through the landscape and there are observation points but always without disturbing the animals living there. You can collect a lot of information and take beautiful pictures of rare animals, huge tarpons which you can feed too, different birds and crabs. There is a souvenirshop who offers very interesting things.
Graeme Hall Sanctuary
Another swamp is in Chancery Lane close to the airport or Congo Road Swamp, an artificial swamp.
